Fundamentally all of the information pertaining to your website is kept within databases, without databases, there wouldn’t be any websites! Since a database is such a vital component of a website it’s very important to know how to create them in the first place…..
Creating a database within Cpanel is fairly straightforward, there are many other advanced concepts attached to databases but for now, I have outlined some steps below to get you started if you are new to creating databases: –
- Login to cPanel
- Click MySQL® Database Wizard
- Follow the steps on screen
- When creating the user click generate password.
- When assigning permissions only give the minimum amount of permissions (e.g. if a user doesn’t have to complete an action – deleting a table etc – don’t allow them permission to do so)
- Done
Please note – If you use softaculous to install software for your website (e.g WordPress) it will automatically create the database for you
I’ve kept this intentionally short and sweet, If you have any queries surrounding the formation of databases or any other topic please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Please feel free to get in touch if you have any questions (open a ticket) with our hosting department – we will try to get back to you as soon as we can!
